About Us

Our Story Begins with a Simple Prayer

Every night, my parents shared a quiet ritual: praying together for the grace to live and die at home. When my father’s cancer returned and my mother’s type 1 diabetes became harder to manage, that simple wish became our family’s greatest challenge.
Scattered across distances, my five siblings and I did our best. After my father’s death, my mother’s health declined until finally she succumbed after missing an insulin shot.
Since then, I realized what we were missing—a caregiver who could have noticed what we couldn’t, reminded my mother about her insulin, and lightened the overwhelming load on our family.

This wasn’t my first encounter with the complexities of aging. Years earlier, I watched my mother care for my grandmother as Alzheimer’s slowly stole her memories. I saw the toll it took—not just on my grandmother, but on my mother, who worried endlessly about what the future might hold.

These experiences shaped everything that followed.

From Personal Pain to Professional Purpose

For over 30 years, I’ve helped people improve their health through workplace well-being solutions. Most recently, I worked with a company focused on eldercare coordination, witnessing firsthand how the right support transforms not just individual lives, but entire families stretched thin by caregiving responsibilities.
AlestaCare is where my personal experience meets professional insight—a tribute to my parents’ prayers and a promise to Charleston families facing the same challenges we did.
